Here is the information you need to apply for a 2023 UGLA Scholarship Award if you will be attending a four-year college or university.
What does it take to be a successful applicant?
Achieving social justice for the LGBTQ+ community is a key part of UGLA’s mission. To be a successful applicant, you must also show that you are actively involved in working toward social justice for the LGBTQ+ community.
As you complete the application process, you will be providing information that helps UGLA reviewers:

- Understand a little more about you as an individual.
- See what you’ve done to advocate for social justice in the LGBTQ+ community.
- Assess the promise you bring to your college or university studies.
Am I eligible?
To be selected for an UGLA Scholarship, you need to meet the following requirements.

- You are a graduating senior at a high school in Los Angeles County.
- You have applied to or been accepted by a college or university you want to attend.
If you haven’t already been accepted by a college or university when you start the application process, it is not a problem. However, if you are selected for a scholarship award, you will need to provide a letter of acceptance from your school before your award can be finalized.
How do I apply for an UGLA Scholarship?
It’s very simple.
First, complete and submit the online application form. (There is a link at the bottom of this page.) This application provides basic information about you to our reviewers.
Second, provide some additional information about yourself. This information will give UGLA reviewers a “picture” of you and how well you meet our criteria for a successful applicants.

- Current transcript
- Letter(s) of recommendation
- A personal statement to introduce yourself to UGLA reviewers
- A letter of acceptance from the college or university you plan to attend
To begin the application process, click the “Application” button below. After you complete the online application and submit it, you will receive an email with a checklist and a complete description of the additional information you must provide.

Both your online application and your additional information must be received by UGLA no later than April 30, 2023.
If you are selected to receive an UGLA Scholarship Award, you will be expected to attend the UGLA Scholarship Award Ceremony on June 11, 2023 at 2:00pm. It will be held in the northeast Los Angeles area, with details provided later.
